Salt Cay, Grand Turk, South Caicos, Middle Caicos, North Caicos, Providenciales, Parrot Cay and Pine Cay are the inhabited islands that tourists visit, and there are several smaller unihabited islands and cays like East Caicos and West Caicos which are open for exploration.

With the third largest barrier reef in the world, eco-tourism is also a prime draw to this region.  The islands offer superb bird-watching, with salt ponds and inland marshes attracting great blue herons, flamingoes and pelicans. A number of smaller native birds can be spotted here, too, such as egrets, frigates and terns. Twelve of the smaller cays are cordoned off as a protected breeding ground for these birds.

For the serious diver, there are many shipwrecks to explore, and fishing is another major attraction, with a plentitude of tuna and blue marlin to be caught.  Humpbacked whales pass by the island from December to March during their annual migration, and manta rays and dolphins swim alongside divers as they explore the underwater world surrounding the islands.

With many carnivals held throughout the year, you will never be short of something to do on these islands.  You can explore the area on a rented cycle or by horseback.  Why not take a cruise or a semi-submarine tour, or have barbeque on the beach? Play golf or tennis, take a heritage walk, explore the caves on Middle Caicos, go parasailing… there’s something for everyone, whether you want to have an adventure or just relax.
