Menorca has been for years overshadowed by its larger sister Majorca. Resting in the turquoise seas of the Med, low-key Minorca or Menorca isn’t as well-known as the mainland Costa’s - but it should be. Peace and quiet rule here. There's a touch of the Aegean about Menorca - the most relaxing of all Spain's offshore holiday spots. It's a rustic island of peace and great natural beauty. Menorca is 30 miles long by about 10 miles wide so it is easy to explore the whole island. Travel around a coastline of over 120 sandy beaches, or explore prehistoric sites with mysterious stone monuments which are dotted all over the island. Whitewashed houses, an informal atmosphere and fantastic seafood restaurants make Menorca so popular with holidaymakers. Or is it the excellent watersports and the wide choice of beaches that range from the small sandy cove of Cala Blanca to the horseshoe bay at Arenal d'en Castell.
Minorca has bounty-like beaches,- more than its Balearic cousins put together. It’s also an open-air museum with its megalithic monuments. There are a couple of waterparks in Menorca – Aqua City in Cala’n Forcat and Aqua Rock in Cala’n Bosch. Strangely Menorca, specifically Mahon, has earned its place in culinary history because of mahonesa, or mayonnaise, Meaning literally 'white cove', Cala Blanca is a small resort which offers good beaches and a beautiful setting backed by dense pine woods.
Arenal D'en Castell sits where the pine trees and rocky valleys meet the sea, a resort protected by a wide, perfect horseshoe of sand. The arms of two headlands give the resort its own favourable microclimate, and keeps its waves gentle enough for youngsters to paddle. Busy Cala n Bosch, in Menorca's sunny southwest is clustered around a marina, just a few hundred metres from the open sea. With its impressive yachts and waterside bars,Cala n Bosch feels a little more upmarket than most Minorcan resorts. Binibeca resort stretches from Cala Torret, with its good selection of shops and restaurants and S’Atalaya in the east to Binibeca Vell the famous fishing village in the west. At Binibeca Nou you’ll find a gorgeous, dune-backed sandy beach with a relaxing beach
On the outskirts of Ciutadella, the inlet of Cala n Blanes offers a slice of picture-perfect Menorcan life, with a good range of facilities, a great beach, and easy access to Ciutadella's stylish shops and harbour-side restaurants and bars. Cala Blanca has grown from a small sandy cove into a well-developed resort with a good selection of amenities. The main beach, with its white sand and shallow waters is ideal for swimming Backed by low-lying hills and boasting the longest beach on the island with a range of watersports, Son Bou is an ideal destination for beach lovers.
