The Canaries offer all year round sun and a fairly constant climate. It’s the best place to go if you are seeking winter sun.

Gran Canaria is the largest of the Canary Island, and a popular destination for tourists. It caters for both holidaymakers with children and for clubbers, who often book cheap flights for long weekends on the terraces. Playa del Ingles is the liveliest resort on the island, but Maspalomas, Puerto Rico and San Augustin are all popular resorts which should not be overlooked.

The second largest island, which is believed to be the oldest, is Fuerteventura. it is quickly making a name for itself as a golfing island. The busiest holiday area is six miles south of Fuerteventura airport around the town of Caleta de Fuste, which is also known known as Castillo. Perfect for watersports enthusiasts, it is a great place to go scuba diving.

Lanzarote is the northern-most Canary Island with resorts such as Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Matagorda. A popular choice with holiday makers, Lanzarote has plenty to offer. With a mild to hot climate, daytime temperatures in the summer are between 30°C and 35°C, and the nightime temperature is around 20°C.

Santa Cruz De La Palma, located on the east cost, is the capital of the Canary Islands. Calle O’Daly is the main shopping street where traditional shops trade alongside high street names. The Plaza de España in the centre of the city is surrounded by historical buildings including Iglesia de El Salvador, the Renaissance style town hall and the Casa Pinto. A more laid back and cultural escape, there are many monasteries and churches, and several museums including the Museo Naval, the naval museum housed in a replica of the Santa Maria.

Tenerife is lively and fun, a favourite with clubbers and families. With a low annual rainfall, it is the perfect place to escape the British winter.
